Championing sustainable tourism
Tomorrow begins with what we do today. That's why for nearly three decades, Atlantis Paradise Island has been at the forefront of protecting, preserving, and improving the natural world β both above and below the sea.
Here, guests and the environment coexist in harmony. Every decision we make is guided by our current and future environmental, social, and economic impacts.
Every decision we make takes into account our precious environment and our community. Our commitment goes well beyond words. Itβs who we are.
Atlantis Paradise Island has been actively involved in supporting the Bahamian community through various partnerships and initiatives, including with the Bahamas Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, and Hands for Hunger.
Atlantis also donated approximately $6 million to hurricane relief efforts since 1999 and pledged $3 million to assist those affected by Hurricane Dorian. In September 2021, the resort launched a βVax for Cashβ incentive to encourage team members to take an approved COVID-19 vaccine and protect their safety and well-being.
Atlantis launched a six-week swim program for local children to learn how to swim.
With only 10% of Bahamians knowing how to swim, the program aims to teach a valuable life skill and to reduce the number of drownings each year. In addition to basic swimming lessons, the children also learn life-saving skills.
Bahamian culture is rich with history. Atlantis fosters the traditions and culture of the Bahamian people by investing purposefully in various initiatives.
From local visual and performing art activations to annual celebrations such as Bahamian Independence Day and Junkanoo, we focus on weaving local arts and culture into our daily resort life.
Atlantis supports sporting events both on-site and in the communityβfrom basketball tournaments, water safety courses, and swim lessons to the Special Olympics Bahamas and the Olympics.Since 1995, Atlantis has continued to support the Bahamas Olympic Committee.
Plus, as part of its commitment to sports and education, Atlantis contributed to St. Anneβs School on New Providence Islandβs construction of a multilane swimming pool.
Atlantis team members participate in park and beach cleanups in the communities in which they workβincluding The Bahamas, Florida, and New Jersey.
Atlantis is committed to fighting human trafficking and supporting victims. We firmly believe that together, as a community, we can make positive change for those who need it most!
We are proud to be one of the select facilities to be accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), and recently earned the distinction of Global Humane Certifiedβ’, the international brand of American Humane, for our high standards of care and animal welfare.
We are also accredited by the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums, and the International Marine Animal Trainers Association.
These accreditations solidify our commitment to delivering the highest standards of care to more than 250 species of animals at Atlantis Paradise Island, in addition to protecting marine animals and their habitats in the wild.
At Atlantis, we use our resources, talents, and strengths to meaningfully impact everyone around us. We continue to give back and help meet the needs of those around us through acts of kindness, partnerships, and volunteerism.
