After back-to-back 20-win seasons at Arkansas State, Coach Bryan Hodgson is bringing fresh energy to Tampa — and now, to Paradise Island. The University of South Florida men's basketball team is headed to the 2025 Battle 4 Atlantis, marking the program's debut in one of the most prestigious early-season tournaments in the country.
Set in the electric Imperial Arena at Atlantis Paradise Island, Battle 4 Atlantis features 12 games played over three action-packed days. USF will be joined by top programs like Saint Mary's (ranked No. 24 in the final NCAA standings), VCU, Vanderbilt, and Colorado State, all of which reached the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The 2025 field also includes Wichita State and Western Kentucky, making for a competitive and balanced bracket featuring both returning tournament teams and first-time participants.
In just two years at Arkansas State, Coach Bryan Hodgson transformed a struggling program into a postseason contender, smashing school scoring records and earning a finalist nod for the Joe B. Hall Award. Now, at the helm of USF, he's building serious momentum.
"This is one of the premier early-season tournaments in college basketball, and it's a tremendous opportunity for our program to compete on a national stage against elite competition. This year's field is loaded — four of the eight teams in this tournament played in the 2025 NCAA Tournament," said Coach Bryan Hodgson. "Being selected for the Battle 4 Atlantis is a testament to the momentum we're building here at USF and reflects the trajectory of our program."
Though this is USF's first trip to The Bahamas for basketball, the Bulls aren't strangers to international play. They've competed in the Cayman Islands and Jamaica, gaining valuable experience on the global stage. This opportunity allows the Bulls to showcase their growing program to a national audience, as Battle 4 Atlantis games are broadcast on ESPN networks and regularly feature future NCAA Tournament contenders.
