Set on stunning Paradise Island, the Ocean Club Golf Course will host the White Sands Bahamas NCAA Invitational this October.
The Tom Weiskopf-designed par 72 course is the perfect backdrop for this top competition.
Twenty-two leading collegiate golf teams will compete during back-to-back weekends.
Here’s a look at the teams heading to Paradise this October.
Texas A&M will serve as host for the 10-team women’s tournament from October 18 – 20.
The women’s teams competing include Abilene Christian, Baylor, College of Charleston, Coastal Carolina, Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, Purdue, Texas A&M and Xavier.
“We are thrilled to be coming to the Bahamas and having the opportunity to compete in paradise. It’s a tremendous opportunity for our student-athletes to travel internationally and learn more about the Bahamian culture while still competing at a high level.”
- Erika Brennan, Head Women’s Golf Coach at University of Georgia
West Virginia will be the host school for the men’s competition from October 25 – 27.
The participating men’s teams include Ball State, UC San Diego, College of Charleston, Emory, George Mason, Houston, Eastern Michigan, Maryland, Northern Illinois, Ohio University, Rutgers, and West Virginia.
The staff at Ocean Club Golf Course are dedicated to making sure that the stunning course will be in the best possible condition for competition.
“The views of the Ocean Club Golf Course are second to none. You can see the beautiful turquoise waters from all 18 holes with seven of the holes directly touching the ocean,” says Robbie Leming, General Manager PGA, Ocean Club Golf Course.
When it comes to handling the course, the highly skilled NCAA golfers will come prepared.
“The challenge they might face will be our trade winds that roll through this time of year.
These can be tricky and vary in direction day to day,” states Leming.
“The White Sands Golf Tournament is special for many reasons but perhaps it’s known for the wonderful hospitality.
You combine that with the beautiful location and strong competition, it’s an event like no other.”
- Sean Covich, Head Men’s Golf Coach at West Virginia University.
