Celebrating Endangered Species Day
at Atlantis

This May, celebrate Endangered Species Day at Atlantis Paradise Bahamas. Our dedicated experts care for a variety of endangered species and our efforts extend far beyond our resort.

At Atlantis, we're all about conservation—it's not just something we talk about; it's at the core of who we are. More than 9 endangered species call Atlantis home. But the heartbeat of our conservation efforts lies in our success stories. Six of those endangered species have had reproductive success ensuring their survival for future generations.

Team members wade into the Predator Lagoon and condition them to eat at assigned feeding stations.

reproductive success
Did you know Atlantis is the first and only facility in the world to have reproductive success with the smalltooth sawfish? Four pups, two male and two female, were born at Atlantis in 2012.

rostrum is used for hunting
Their most striking feature is the long, narrow rostrum that stretches out more than 2 feet and is ringed with small, sharp teeth. Sawfish use it as a hunting tool, slashing their head through schools of fish to to stun and capture a meal
