For the 16th year in a row, the resort joins a select group of zoological and aquarium facilities acknowledged by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, an independent accrediting body for the top zoos and aquariums
in the United States and 12 other countries.
AZA accreditation includes a detailed application and a meticulous, on-site, multiple-day inspection by an independent team of zoological professionals. The inspecting team analyzes all aspects of the facility’s operation, including animal welfare and wellbeing; veterinary care; keeper training; safety for visitors, staff, and animals; educational programs; conservation efforts; financial stability; risk management; governance; and guest services. A thorough review makes sure each facility has and will continue to meet ever rising standards, and is required every five years as a condition of Association membership.
This accreditation is a true testament to the overall mission and expertise of the marine life professionals and the dedication and passion of all of Atlantis Paradise Island’s team members.
The AZA accreditation is the most prestigious of all independent zoological organizations, and it is an honor to have our efforts recognized for the 16th consecutive year
The team at Atlantis is incredibly passionate and dedicated, which is reflected in the excellent care given to the animals, the well-maintained facilities, and the amazing guest experience," said Dan Ashe, president and chief executive officer of AZA. “We’re thrilled to once again confirm their achievement in meeting our rigorous accreditation standards
